Marcal Small Steps Earth Month GIVEAWAY!

Happy Earth Month! Let's celebrate with a "green" giveaway!

Going green doesn’t have to be a burden on your lifestyle or your wallet and there are lots of small things families can do every day to help the environment.

For those of us watching our budgets (who isn’t?!), Marcal doesn’t have the “green premium” often attached to earth-friendly brands. In fact, Marcal Small Steps typically sells for less than traditional paper goods that are made by cutting down trees and often contain dyes and fragrances that Marcal doesn’t use.

To celebrate Earth Month, Marcal has created a calendar of the many ways you can help the environment with your own “small steps.” Click here to visit Marcal's Facebook Fan Page and save or print this Marcalendar with some great ideas for getting a little more green this month and beyond! If you do not have a Facebook account, click here to view the calendar.  Here is a fact that I learned from the Marcalendar: Buy fresh foods instead of frozen -Frozen food uses 10 times more energy to produce.  I had no idea!

Marcal Smalls Steps makes toilet paper, napkins, and paper towels from 100% premium recycled paper- not trees. It may seem like a small thing, but it actually adds up. If every household in the U.S. replaced one package of traditional toilet paper with Marcal Small Steps, together we could help save nearly one million trees. And, in your own home, a family of four could save two trees a year (17 trees over 10 years) just by switching to paper products made from 100% recycled materials.

You can enter to win a Marcal starter kit (worth $25).  The starter kit features an assortment of Marcal paper products—toilet paper, napkins, paper towels and facial tissues. Perfect for anyone who wants to give Marcal Small Steps a try!

Entering is EASY! You can submit up to TWO entries by leaving a separate comment below for each entry:

1. Share "small steps" that you take to help the environment, such as using a refillable coffee mug versus plastic or paper cups.

2. Become a fan of Marcal on Facebook - Click here

Please leave your e-mail address or login to your account, so I can contact you if you win. (Your email will not be used to send spam to by us or anyone else.) The winner will be chosen by and announced on Friday, April 23, 2010 at 11:59pm.

If you are reading via email or a feed, please visit directly to leave your comments to enter the giveaway!

I recycle all my plastic and paper bags. Also our grocery store takes Styrafoam meat trays and egg carton.

I try to use dishtowels instead of paper towels. It's better for the environment, and helps to save me money too.

Rather than using plastic water bottles for my drinks, I use an REI Nalgene bottle instead. Using the nalgene bottle will help eliminate plastic from our landfills.

I use my reuseable grocery bags for everything! I also re-use my water bottle at work and have switched most of our light bulbs to the CFL bulbs (as the incandesceants go out, a CFL goes in).

We use our own grocery bags, our own cup for coffee, and have changed out our lightbulbs.

Loved the calendar for all the ideas it gives us. Appreciated the reminder to use dishwasher and washer/dryer only when full loads and during nonpeak hours.
